Features
Pavimortar is a mortar comprising cement and selected silicas that, together with special fillers and reinforcing synthetic fibres, make it suitable for the urgent repair of highways, bridges, car parks and concrete paving that need to return to service two hours after the repair.
Advantages
- High mechanical resistance to compression, flexion and impact
- Good adhesion to concrete
- Fast setting
- Can be applied on wet surfaces
- Suitable for repairs when applied undiluted in thicknesses from 30 to 50 mm
- Resistant to freeze-thaw cycles
- Chloride-free
- Easy to apply. 1-component product
Benefits
Reduced curing time, so the surface can be put back into service. The product allows road traffic two hours after it has been applied.
Do not add cements or additives that may affect the properties of the product.
Use the recommended amounts of mixture liquid when mixing.
Respect the minimum and maximum recommended usage amounts and thicknesses.
To recover the workability of the material, remix but never add more water.
Do not mix more material than can be applied in 15 minutes.
Do not use the leftovers of previous mixes to make a new paste.
Do not apply on water-repellent substrates, bituminous materials, plasters, paints and/or metal surfaces.
These data are recommendations only based on our experience. Testing prior to use is recommended.

Preparation of the surface
Clean away the disintegrated and inconsistent concrete of the area to be repaired, trimming the edges perpendicular to the surface with a minimum depth of 30 mm and making sure that the perimeter of the trimmed area has no overly shallow or sharp angles. Remove dust, dirt, concrete residue and/or cement grout, as well as paint, grease and other agents that could affect adhesion. We recommend cleaning mechanically or with a pressurised water jet until an open-pore surface texture is achieved. Before applying Pavimortar, saturate the surface with water without letting it puddle, and begin the application once the surface acquires a matte appearance. If the surface dries, saturate it again.
Preparing the mixture
A 25 kg canister requires 4.0 to 4.5 litres (16-18 % by weight) of clean water depending on the environmental conditions and desired consistency. Pour the necessary amount of water into a clean container and add the mortar, mixing it with an electric mixer at low speed (400-600 rpm) for 2 to 3 minutes until achieving a homogeneous paste free from lumps and air bubbles and with a semi-dry consistency. After letting the paste rest for 1-2 minutes, mix briefly for a few seconds and then start applying the mixture. Prepare the amount of material to be used within the first 15 minutes. After this time, the Pavimortar will have started to set and the product will no longer be manageable. If necessary, remix the mixture to maintain its workability, but do not add any more water.
Application
To improve adhesion, spread a lump-free adhesion slurry with a creamy consistency, the result of mixing 5 parts of Pavimortar with 1 part water, filling all the holes and pores with the help of a brush.
Applications with thicknesses of up to 50 mm: when the slurry has lost its shine but is still fresh, begin applying the Pavimortar with a float or a trowel, without excessive pressure, against the edges and surface of the area to be repaired. If more coats are required, scratch the surface of the coat to improve adhesion with the next coat. A new coat can be spread after the previous coat has hardened, after 15-30 minutes. If the primer slurry dries out, or if the previous coat is completely set, apply a new primer slurry to continue working. Level with a trail or straight edge, but to prevent cracking, do not apply any more material once it has started to set. Finish the last coat as appropriate, for example with a non-slip finish applied with a brush, before hardening begins.
Applications with thicknesses greater than 50 mm in a single process: mix 25 kg of Pavimortar with 8 kg of clean, dry, fine-free aggregate with a maximum granulometry of 10 mm. Mix the dry aggregates and Pavimortar before preparing the water. Add water until you obtain a mortar with the desired workability, taking into account that the addition of aggregates slightly reduces the amount of water required compared to the pure product. When the adhesion slurry has lost its shine, start laying the Pavimortar as described in the above process.
Application conditions
Do not apply the product if rain is forecast, and/or contact with water, moisture, condensation, dew etc. is expected within 24 hours of application. The optimum working temperature range is 10°C to 30°C. Do not apply if the substrate and/or ambient temperatures is below 5°C or if lower temperatures are expected within 24 hours of application. Likewise, do not apply on frozen or flooded surfaces. Wet the substrate with plenty of water if applying in high temperatures, strong wind and/or low relative humidity. Avoid direct sun exposure in extreme heat.
Curing
In high temperatures, wind, low relative humidity and/or direct exposure to the sun, prevent the Pavimortar from drying quickly by keeping it damp for at least the first 2 hours, and preferably for up to 24 hours after application, by laying down plastic film or spraying water on the surface of the Pavimortar, without washing it. Allow a minimum cure time of 2 hours (20°C and a RH of 50 %) before subjecting the surface to road traffic. Lower temperatures and/or a higher relative humidity will lengthen the curing time.
Tool cleaning
Clean all tools and working supplies with water immediately after use. Once hardened, the material can only be removed mechanically.
Dosage
The estimated amount of Pavimortar used when applied undiluted is 2.0 kg/m2 per mm of thickness. 25 kg of Pavimortar fills a volume of approximately 12.5 litres. After adding 8 kg of aggregates per 25 kg canister for coats over 50 mm thick, the estimated amount of Pavimortar used is 1.4 kg/m² per mm of thickness, filling a volume of approximately 20 litres. The amount used may vary depending on the texture, porosity and conditions of the substrate, as well as the method of application. Perform an onsite test to calculate the exact value.
